Discoverability and ease of installation of Apache Camel tooling based on the Language Server Protocol has been improved. Manual download and installation of binaries is no longer necessary!  For the Eclipse desktop IDE and the VS Code environment you can now find and install the Camel tooling directly from the marketplaces for each development environment.

Camel Language Server is now also available in Red Hat OpenShift.io!

In this article, I will show you how you can install Camel tooling via the marketplaces for Eclipse and VS Code.  I will also show how to enable Camel tooling in your OpenShift.io workspace.

    Eclipse and VS Code Marketplaces

The Camel tooling is available on the Eclipse marketplace. This means that you can discover and install it directly from your Eclipse Desktop IDE:

The tooling is also available on VS Code marketplace. This means that you can discover and install it directly from your VS Code IDE:

    Use in OpenShift.io

Camel Language Server is now also available in OpenShift.io! It requires a workspace configuration to be turned on.

    • Go to your workspace
    • Click on the yellow top left arrow
    • Click on "Workspaces"
    • Click on the "configuration icon corresponding to your workspace
    • Click on "Installers" menu and turn on "Apache Camel language server
    • Apply and open the workspace
    • Reopen the xml file
    • Enjoy!

    New home for project code

Please note that the Camel Language Server has a new home. It is now co-hosted with the Camel Idea plugin. You can find it here: github.com/camel-tooling/camel-language-server

Now that it is easily installable, it is time to give it a try!
