Development teams face pressure to deliver software faster to stay competitive. However, this urgency comes with a significant challenge: the escalating risks within the open source software supply chain. The Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite offers a comprehensive solution to help teams move fast without compromising safety.

What is the Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite?

The Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite is designed to address the critical needs of development teams and platform engineers for increased development velocity and robust software supply chain security across complex hybrid and multi-cloud landscapes. This suite bundles key components to empower platform engineering teams to build, deploy, and manage applications more efficiently and securely, enabling development teams to concentrate on innovation.

The benefits of Advanced Developer Suite

Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite delivers tangible value by improving developer productivity, enhancing security posture, and simplifying application modernization across the software development life cycle (SDLC). It enables platform engineers to create curated, self-service developer experiences that abstract infrastructure complexity and enforce governance and security policies.

    Increased developer productivity

You can streamline development workflows and reduce friction from code to deployment. Advanced Developer Suite enables faster onboarding with preconfigured, trusted environments that reduce setup time by as much as 50%. Cloud-based workspaces (i.e., Red Hat OpenShift Dev Spaces) allow a quick start with consistent, ready-to-code environments.

Automated software templates within Red Hat Developer Hub provide standardized project setups for faster starts. It supports consistent development-to-production workflows, simplifying local development with secure container management tools like Podman Desktop.

Red Hat Developer Hub, the internal developer portal, reduces cognitive load and acts as a central source of truth for documentation, tools, and best practices. The suite integrates with existing CI/CD solutions, including OpenShift Pipelines, OpenShift GitOps, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions. Integrated development environment (IDE) plug-ins bring Red Hat ecosystem tools directly into popular IDEs.

    Enhanced software supply chain security

Security is embedded throughout the SDLC. Red Hat Trusted Artifact Signer provides automated cryptographic signing and verification for software artifacts. It ensures software integrity and provenance via tamper-proof logs on an immutable ledger. It supports keyless signing solutions tied to OIDC identity, creating a non-repudiable chain of custody.

Red Hat Trusted Profile Analyzer automates system and security profile analysis, offering comprehensive management of software bill of materials (SBOMs), vulnerability exploitability exchange information (VEX), and common vulnerabilities and exchanges (CVEs), delivering real-time risk visibility and actionable insights that help teams proactively manage compliance and security threats.

Policy-based compliance, including support for SLSA-aligned secure pipelines, is enforced across hybrid platforms. The Advanced Developer Suite delivers turnkey supply chain security with automated signing, provenance tracking, trusted content guidance, and real-time risk monitoring.

    Simplified modernization and infrastructure adaptability

You can accelerate your modernization efforts with tools like the migration toolkit for applications, which provides automated assessments, guided refactoring, and compatibility analysis to transition legacy workloads with less risk and complexity. This suite supports integration with existing tools and infrastructure.

    Foundation for AI-enabled application development

The suite provides a foundation for building and deploying AI-infused applications securely. It extends artifact signing and verification to AI models and includes AI-focused software templates within Red Hat Developer Hub for common use cases.

Advanced Developer Suite components & integration

What’s included in the suite? The Advanced Developer Suite bundles the following components:

    • Red Hat Developer Hub is an enterprise-grade internal developer portal based on Backstage.
    • Red Hat Trusted Profile Analyzer provides software supply chain risk analysis, including SBOM/VEX/CVE management and compliance.
    • Red Hat Trusted Artifact Signer offers automated cryptographic signing and verification for software artifacts.

The suite also integrates or highlights the value of the following complementary developer and security-related capabilities:

    • Red Hat OpenShift Dev Spaces: These are cloud-based, containerized development environments for consistent setup and collaboration.
    • Podman Desktop: A lightweight, secure, rootless container management tool for local development.
    • Red Hat’s migration toolkit for applications: Tools for assessing, refactoring, and migrating applications.
    • IDE extensions for Red Hat OpenShift: Integrations that bring Red Hat ecosystem tools into popular IDEs.

    Seamless integration with OpenShift

Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite is designed to build upon and extend the capabilities of Red Hat OpenShift. The suite supports deployment on OpenShift clusters, including managed services like Microsoft Azure Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS. It is also available for deployment on other Kubernetes providers.
