Frequently asked questions

Is Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS the same as Red Hat OpenShift?

Yes. Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS is fully managed Red Hat OpenShift, which delivers a consistent experience across hybrid cloud, public cloud, on-premise, or edge architecture. ROSA is hosted on the Amazon Web Services public cloud and jointly managed by Red Hat and AWS. Note that certain administrative functions and options might be restricted or unavailable when using the managed version.

What does Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS include?

Each ROSA cluster comes with a fully managed control plane and application nodes. Installation, management, maintenance, and upgrades are performed by Red Hat site reliability engineers (SREs) with joint Red Hat and Amazon support. You can also take advantage of cluster services, including monitoring, logging, and metrics.

Does Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS integrate with other AWS services?

Yes. ROSA integrates with a range of AWS compute, database, analytics, machine learning, networking, mobile, and other application services, so you can quickly deploy and scale through the same management interface.

How do I get support?

ROSA is supported jointly by Red Hat and AWS, giving you the option to contact either company to start troubleshooting. Escalations will occur as needed by Red Hat or AWS to the appropriate team.

How does pricing work?

The total cost of Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS includes both ROSA service fees and AWS infrastructure fees. Refer to Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS Pricing for more information.

Where can I get answers to additional questions?

You can find answers to additional questions about ROSA here.

What is ROSA with Hosted Control Planes?

ROSA with Hosted Control Planes  deploys control plane components, like etcd, API server, and oauth, that are hosted separately on AWS in a Red Hat owned and managed account. Only a minimum of two nodes are needed which is great for small projects but the deployment can be scaled to support larger projects. Refer to Creating ROSA with Hosted Control Planes for more information.
