Software Collections feature image

Red Hat Software Collections 3.6 and Red Hat Developer Toolset 10 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) are now available as beta releases. An alternative to the default RHEL toolset, Software Collections provides a differentiated and eclectic mix of tools that developers can use on a desktop or in production.

Red Hat Software Collections tools are use case-specific and include the most current, stable version of dynamic languages, open source databases, web servers, and other critical development components. The Red Hat Software Collections 3.6 beta release features four new collections and four that have been updated.

These collections are new in Red Hat Software Collections 3.6 beta:

  • devtoolset-10
  • rh-git227
  • rh-nginx118
  • rh-nodejs14

These collections have been updated:

  • httpd24
  • rh-perl530
  • rh-php73
  • rh-haproxy18

The Red Hat Developer Toolset 10 release includes current versions of the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC 10.2), GNU Debugger, and other tools for development, debugging, and performance monitoring.

The Software Collections release cycle

Software Collections releases occur semi-annually. The collections have a support lifecycle of up to five years, allowing for rapid innovation and stability. You can install individual collections as you need them. Details are available for the new container-based images for the Node.js 14 and Nginx 1.18 collections.
