    Summary

Red Hat Developer Hub 1.7 is now generally available.

What's new in Red Hat Developer Hub 1.7?

We are pleased to announce the general availability of Red Hat Developer Hub (RHDH) 1.7.

What is Red Hat Developer Hub?

Red Hat Developer Hub serves as an enterprise platform designed to optimize the developer experience. Leveraging Backstage, an open source project under the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Developer Hub provides a bespoke, unified environment where developers can access important tools, resources, and documentation for efficient application development and deployment.

RHDH offers support across Red Hat OpenShift, AWS EKS, Azure AKS, and Google GKE and integrates with a wide range of DevOps tools, including GitHub, GitLab, Jira, Jenkins, and PagerDuty. This broad information hub facilitates greater collaboration and enables self-service actions that keep developers productive throughout their working day (and night).

Notable Enhancements & Changes in Red Hat Developer Hub 1.7

Enhancements to the RHDH documentation play a significant role in this update, with many important features and processes receiving documentation for the first time.

    • [New] Quickstart first-time onboarding feature for platform engineers
    • [New] Software template can now be versioned.
    • [New] GitHub Actions based TechDocs generation pipeline is available
    • [New] ServiceNow plugin for RHDH (community supported)
    • [Enhancement] Improved Homepage experience with “quick links” and “favorites” moved to the top bar
    • [Enhancement] Plugin installation (and configuration) can now be done from the Extensions Catalog plugin in “development” environments
    • [Enhancement] Adoption Insights plugin is now GA and enabled by default in RHDH.
    • [Enhancement] Backend dynamic plugins are now GA and the new rhdh-cli helps you build them.
    • [Docs] Documentation improvements
    • [Deprecated] There is a deprecation notice regarding the removal of plugin “wrappers” in a future release of RHDH. However, there is no impact or action required in this release (1.7).
    • [Deprecated] The janus-cli is now replaced with rhdh-cli
