Create an OpenShift Dedicated Cluster

To get started, sign in to Red Hat OpenShift Hybrid Cloud Console here.

The first step is to create a cluster. (Figure 1.)

1. Select the Clusters menu in the left navigation pane.
2. Select Create cluster. If you have an OpenShift Dedicated trial, select Create trial cluster.

A welcome to Red Hat OpenShift Cluster Manager dialogue box will appear. Select Got it to continue.

Choose an infrastructure provider

Your next step is to select an infrastructure provider.

1. When prompted to ‘Select an infrastructure provider’, select AWS. (Figure 2.)

You will be using your own AWS account for the cluster, so please ensure the AWS account is properly configured.

Select Close to continue.

Enter details to set up your OpenShift Dedicated Cluster

1. Choose Subscription type. (Figure 3.)
2. Choose Infrastructure type.
3. Add the following AWS account details:

• AWS Account ID
• AWS access key ID
• AWS secret access key
• Cluster Name
• Region
• Scale

Worker Node Scale

Scale is defining the number and instance type of worker nodes in your cluster.  

After you create a cluster, you will be able to change the number of worker nodes in your cluster (See Figure 4.), but you will not be able to change the worker node instance type of the default pool:

• Worker node instance type
• Worker node count (minimum of two)

You can add additional machine pools of different types later.

Networking Options

1. Use the Basic network configuration.
2. For cluster updates, select Manual.
3. Select Create cluster. (Figure 5.)

Installing Red Hat OpenShift Data Science

1. Select Clusters from the navigation panel on the left.
2. Select Add-ons.
3. Choose Install on the Red Hat OpenShift Data Science card. (Figure 6.)

The initial installation will take about 15 minutes. Some notebook images may take longer before becoming available.

After installation is complete, Select View in Console to navigate to the OpenShift Web Console. (Figure 7.)

From the OpenShift console, access Red Hat OpenShift Data Science from the application switcher in the top menu bar. (Figure 8.)
